Newport Harbor Yacht Club and San Diego Yacht Club invite you to compete in the 2023 Islands Race this February.
The 130+ nm course is both beautiful and challenging, featuring genuine sea breezes and deep blue ocean swells. Competitors will depart from Pt. Fermin just north of Long Beach and head west. Then, with Santa Catalina and San Clemente Islands to port, competitors will experience some of Southern California’s best sailing before they finish the regatta at San Diego’s Point Loma. See NOR for info on the expected course and required safety rules.
The 2023 Islands Race marks the 14th year of this well-attended event developed in partnership between San Diego Yacht Club and Newport Harbor Yacht Club. The race makes for great preparation for the 2023 offshore race season, including the California Offshore Race Week from May 27 - June 3. This year’s Islands Race runs two weeks prior to the NHYC Cabo Race, making for a great tune up for many of the Cabo entries. The event also typically sees an influx of entries for teams preparing for the Transpac Race to Hawaii this summer. Click here to register for this year's race by January 23 to avoid a $50 late entry fee.
